The church of St Sarkis is located in the village of Bjni, on a sharp-end rock. It is a fine example of a series of well-known cruciform chapels and churches of small dimensions which has an exterior plan in the shape
of a Greek cross with arms of equal length forming an outside tetraconch. This type was widely spread across Armenia during the seventh century.
